Hi,

I'm new to the message board, I need advice on buying a scanner. I have a mac OS 9.1 G4. I need the scanner for scanning book covers for catalogues that I design for my company. I scan most of the covers at about 300 DPI. I need a larger scanning area say about 11 X 17 for our larger books. My budget is $600.00. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

I don't know how many scanners, if any, you will find that will do 11x17 and fit into a $600 dollar budget. Epson, my preference when dealing with scanners, offers a scanner that can do up to 12x17 but runs for about $3,000. My current scanner, the Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner ran for about 500?, can't remember, and scans a max size of 8.5x11.?.

Buy a good scanner with a smaller bed and scan the image in two sections. Then use the almighty photoshop!
