So I have Google Apps (Free Version), and I'm really not satisfied with the performance lately since they took away the resources they had in it. I am grandfathered in on the ActiveSync, and it just doesn't do a great job when I delete a message on the desktop then deleting it on the mobile, marking as read, etc.

I think I want to go to a different solution. I see RackSpack, but at $12.00 a month it seems like a lot of $$ to spend on an email host for one email address.

Are there any other cheap\free email hosting companies out there that I can use?

    Thanks!

What domain are you running? Open Directory of some form (year) of Microsoft's Active Directory?

Check out http://fastmail.fm I've used them since 2010 and with my own domain and I think I can recommend them.

They started around 2001 so they are not newbies in email...

Well you want something like an IMAP email server that has push email. You could find your own free email server and do your own homework to see what works for you.

I use Apple's iCloud email with push email. It's O.K. But does go down from time to time (a lot less lately). I just use an iCloud email alias (you have to go through the iCloud web inference, email & the top right Action menu, Preferences, Accounts mini-tab) and make any email account username alias to give out.

I don't want imap its too unreliable when it comes to syncing folders and read toggle across iPad/Mac/iPhone. Would prefer Activesync.

It's not very organized, and looking them up online there's not much about them online, plus their exchange hosting is $7.95 a month

    http://www.domains.live.com

You can set up a personal domain on live.com and get full ActiveSync. Personally I'm still having good luck with Google Apps (free) so I'm not ready to jump ship yet, but keeping an eye on this in case that time comes.

Oh just tried to setup, and the issue I quickly ran into is they don't support a catch-all account, which is a big deal for me. :-(

Guess back to the drawing board, ehh?

The issue I am having is the sync between Google Apps for my domain on my iPhone not syncing quickly or properly to my desktop.

When an email comes in, it pops up on my desk and my phone. If I read it on my desktop, sometimes I have to manually refresh mail on my phone to see that it's marked read on my phone.... or vice versa. Sometimes I'll delete an email on my desktop in Mail.app, yet it won't show deleted on my phone (still has the email badge until I go in and manually refresh mail and it sees it's been read).

I think part of the issue is google apps doesn't allow for exchange support on the mac desktop. Mail only allows you to add it as an imap server whereas on the iPhone it shows as exchange. Not sure why they do it that way, but I think it's what's creating the issue for me right now (even though in the past it's not been an issue).
