 this may be a dumb question but how do i go about upgrading the os???? can i simply install the disks or do i need to format the HD - and if so.... how do i go about it as i know absalutely nothing about mac. (i bought it as my kids use macs at primary school and want them to have one at home).

You'll need an earlier full version of OSX to upgrade from, if I remember correctly. Unless of course the 10.2 disk is a full install. Then it's insert disk one and hit the 'C' key on start up.

if the OS 10.2 disc you bought is a retail version.. then simply insert the disc. restart and hold down "C" key.. and follow the instructions from there.
