A laptop motherboard is a hassle to replace and is almost certainly not worth it. I just sold a fancy (also over $2k) Toshiba laptop with a blown motherboard on eBay as-is for parts. I got a couple hundred bucks. You're not likely to get any more than that, but it's better than nothing.

so id get more by just sellin as is? or part it out?
do an ebay search for "dell 5160" someone is parting it out there. You could get an idea of the prices, and see if they sell.
