    Hey all,

I'm sorry if this part of the forum is already being flooded with questions similar to what I am about to ask.

Like every other iMac owner, I am looking to upgrade my 2010 model.

I mostly do web design, so photoshop and sublime text, with a bit of lightweight After Effects work. Do you think the bottom line iMac would be good enough to handle this without struggling?

    The specs are as follows:
    • 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    • 8GB 2400MHz DDR4
    • 1TB Fusion Drive
    • Radeon Pro 570 with 4GB video memory

Is it possible to upgrade the hard drive to an SSD myself, further down the line?

Thanks for any help! And apologies again if there's a thousand and one threads already like this.

Not an expert but let me share what I know. Based on your above tasks, the iMac configuration you are interested in is more than capable of handling. In fact, even my current Macbook Air can do it.

Not possible to upgrade the internal storage. Best option is to connect an external SSD drive via USB3/TB.

The 1tb fusion drive is a joke. I would highly suggest bumping to an SSD or the 2TB Fusion Drive.

The 1tb fusion drive only comes with 32gb SSD, the 2Tb comes with a 128gb SSD.

32GB is NOT ENOUGH. Your computer will run just barely faster than the 7200rpm drive. GPU and CPU should be good though.

Thanks for your amazing answers guys :)

Would you recommend upgrading to the inbuilt SSD drive over the 2TB fusion drive?
