HP 2509m External Monitor (Full HD LCD)

Total: About $4000 CAN :(

And I will be getting the new iPhone, but Ill get my dad to get it as a BDay gift ;)

So any advice or recommendations? I will also be getting the free iPod Touch and probably a free printer. I got around $3000 right now, so in about a months time I will purchase. My goal is July 20 :)

What exactly do you need advice for? Other than purchasing an iPad that actually exists.

You might want to consider dropping the HP monitor for something like the newer Dell 2311H. You save a few $CAD (I'm an american, I looked up some prices but I don't know what you're paying) and you get a nicer monitor. Find a friend or a friend of a friend with a colour calibrator, hook it up, call it a day. Long story short its IPS as compared to TN - take your pick.

That's just my advice, I'm anal retentive about screens. The uniformity would be nice for video editing, just FYI.

seems like a lot bulk, your really just need the laptop itself. the rest is all personal preference. for one thing i don't suggest owning a macbook, iphone, and iPad all together. Also the magic mouse is rather a poor performer and uncomfortable for extended media work.

My personal suggestion is to drop the iPad. thats $500 US, and the i7 is quite a bit extra, not sure if you need it, especially if you are using FCE and not looking at adding at least one external HDD (which I would recommend). If you get the hi-res screen, I don't see a big need for another monitor, and the speakers are pretty expensive. Personally, I don't need any more than my 13" MB, relatively inexpensive 20" LCD, and keyboard/mouse.
