Hi everyone,
Like the title says, I'd like some advice/opinions on getting my Series 2 (Stainless Steel) battery replaced. I just got off my call with Apple Support, and they said that my model does qualify for a battery replacement service which would cost $79.

In an ideal world (due to the processor being the same model from the Series 4), I'd like to wait until next year to purchase a brand new Apple Watch, but right now my battery isn't lasting 12 hours before going below 10%.

I've seen various posts that sometimes Apple might send a replacement Series 3 instead of replacing the battery due to the availability of parts, but that is a gamble so I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks for your time!

Hey. Where’s the gamble? You pay your $79 and at worst get your series 2 back which will tide you over till the series 6, or, best case, you get a $79 upgrade to a series 3. Win win in my opinion

Unless I’ve missed something...?

I got a friend who got the battery replacement but got back is a S2 (not s3). My advise is since U going to wait for another year before upgrade, why not just fork out the $79 to replace the battery. then when you get your watch next year, sell it on the eBay for $150 Or so.
Still a Win-Win situation to me.

I was hesitant because even with a fresh battery, the S2 is still sooooo slooooooowwwww. I didn't consider that I could sell it on eBay though, so that's an interesting thought.

I think for now I'm going to disable Background App Refresh and hope that 13.2 helps out with the battery drain that has recently become much worse. (Wouldn't be the first time an iOS update either helps or hurts watch battery life.)

Thanks everyone!

You could always just tough it out until Black Friday and pick up a S3/4/5. I'm sure Best Buy etc. will have good sales.
