Does anyone know whether an external drive connected to the new AEBS can be accessed from outside of the network? Also, does the AEBS have it's own IP? For instance, can I connect directly to it or must I connect to a computer in the network, then mount the drive? I would like to connect to a drive at home from work and am hoping the AEBS has what I need! Cheers!
The new AEBS (802.11n) is supposed to be able to let you mount the drive via the Internet side of the router (via AFP), but I've never played with that functionality before. The AEBS does not run a FTP server though, so you cannot connect directly to it to do FTP.
you can set it up with wide area bonjour. there are lots of guides on the net. I have mine set up and can access the drive from anywhere in the world. pretty cool.
