Afraid to "factory reset" MacBook 13 2018

Okay, I see that there is a huge discussion since yesterday - but I can confirm - done reinstallation via internet yesterday with no issues. As someone stated - I do it always after first boot and patching system to get rid of not needed preinstalled software.

Thanks for the replies,
I don't see why you'd reinstall just for this, you've gained absolutely nothing. You could've saved yourself time and just dragged those apps to the trash, you'd end up with the very same result. This isn't a Windows laptop with 15 factory installed apps ingrained in the registry.

Exactly, that's what I said, but you said it better :)

Back in the day when we had a lot of different options to installing OS X, such as when we had Snow Leopard, it made sense to do a fresh install. Now there's no options and really no software so the net affect is zilch.

Trying a different wifi network would help determine if the issue was specifically your computer or if there was something wonky with internet recovery and your wifi.

Any way to config your wifi to have a guest SSID with no password? Just a thought.

As for booting a USB drive image from a 2017, I'm pretty sure that's specifically disallowed by the T2, and more importantly the 2017 wouldn't have the macOS build specific to the 2018.

I tried disabling the password and enabling guest networks, nothing seemed to work but every 10-15 minutes I would swing by my computer to see if internet recovery failed and after about 2 hours it finally worked. I wonder if the server was down? In any event Apple really should make internet recovery more verbose.
