macOS built-in screenshots ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4, ⌘⇧5 have preferences, invoked by using ⌘⇧5. It shows a toolbar with Options. The one I have to repeatedly check is “Show Floating Thumbnail.” Checking it won’t stick. Not sure at this point, what resets it to being unchecked. Maybe it’s putting my Mac to sleep or waking it up again.

I use this function intensively; options set: Desktop, None, Show Floating Thumbnail. :: they're sticky so far.
