The forum is filled with many of us that have watches that apps do not work. Opening an app leaves a circle of death with the app never successfully opening. Most mention to pair and unfair the phone, which does not work. Some of said to wipe all music off your phone, and many have found success there. But if you are like me that music on your phone is an absolute must, that was not a viable solution.

I found partial steps online and although it took several hours, all my apps on my watch are currently functioning.

1. Backup your iPhone using iTunes if you want. I decided that since there's a glitch in the software that i would use an old backup.

2. 'Erase All Content and Settings' from Settings app in your iPhone. Say yes to this and iPhone will wipe out everything and start a brand new setup.

3. 'Erase All Content and Settings' in the Apple Watch settings while the phone is erasing.

4. Restore your iPhone from backup using iTunes. DO NOT USE CLOUD. If you decided to backup prior, then take your chances. I decided to use an old backup from 2 months ago. I'm unsure if it makes a difference because i synced my phone back to how it looked before. Maybe the additional time is that every app needed to be updated from my February backup. (However, I did notice that I lost 2 months of activity rings data. LOL. But it's OK, I know what I did)

5. Pair your iPhone with your Apple Watch. I decided to let the watch install every app that had a watch app. I will delete the ones off that I don't need.

6. Follow all the the instructions on both devices and it should work.

I really can't believe that it's working. I mean every single app works.

I hope this works for you guys. Any questions, let me know. It was a lengthy process close to 4 hours.

Don't listen to this guy. It's bull. He is basically saying do an iPhone restore and set up Apple Watch as new. Nothing new. He also think iTunes restore vs iCloud restore will do something to fix Apple Watch apps. Don't know why he thinks this is the solution to an non existing problem. My watch works perfectly.

I think you might think he's talking about something else. People have had problems with a bunch of their apps not opening at all. There's a 25+ page thread about it.

Perhaps, and if so I apologise,,,but, he specifically says not to use an iCloud backup. I don't know why this would matter to apps on the watch not opening. It just sounds wrong and pointless. Best chance is to just unpair and set the watch up as new without having to restore your phone too. Personally I've never had this issue

A lot of us haven't had a problem, but you seem to have missed: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/native-apps-do-not-load.1919307/ Up to 29 pages so far!

Thank you CobraPA. Just because someone does not have the issue does not mean that it does not exist

Defender. Congrats on you not having the issue. I'll have a drink in your honor.

Many of us have the issue and there is a glitch in the iOS. What I posted WORKED FOR ME. And why even post a reply if you are not experiencing the problem that many are experiencing?

It sounded like you might have thought he was another person complaining about the speed of the apps. For a bunch of people, they don't open. I can tell you from experience. I was about to exchange or return the thing until I realized there were ways to try and fix it, via that thread.

He says it worked for him, so it's worth a try. We don't know why the hell this problem exists in the first place or why Apple hasn't been able to patch it, so all we've got is trying to fix it ourselves, using the solutions some have found.

I got my SS SB 2 weeks ago ($200 off from Best Buy). I've been struggling getting 3rd party apps to load. I will try this method to see if this will work. However, is it necessary to restore the iphone with an old back-up from iTunes? I'm just worried because I don't want some recent notes and changes to my playlists to be reverted to their older versions.

You can try backing up before you do it and use that backup. I tried it that way and it did not work for me. Make sure you backup to your local machine and not icloud's backup.

Using my old backup, my music was not affected as I do not use icloud playlists. Only thing I lost was previous health data which is not a concern since you just purchased your watch.

To be honest guy, all i know is what worked for me. It may have still worked if i backed up first and used that back up. There's a glitch in the software someplace. For the record, my apps still work.

.

Encrypting your iTunes backup will save your health data. Won't bring it back if you start as a new phone, but if you restore your iTunes backup later, then you will have all of your health data back to the backup date.
