Hello all!

Interested if you guys had any problems with a new purchased MacBook.

26 January a deal came across €1029 for a m1 air. Ordered the thing, and after 2 weeks of using , I noticed something wrong with the coating of the screen.

seller told me I was just out of my return period, so it should go for repair.

was gone for 2,5 weeks, and after getting it back, I noticed dead pixels on the replaced screen.

Told the seller I didn’t agree with this, and I want a refund.

thank god they gave me this without too much hassle.

But it took almost 2 weeks, before I got my money back.

Decided I wouldn’t go for deals anymore, and just bought the thing in a shop with better service.

so after almost 7 weeks of owning a MacBook, and 3 weeks of using the previous one.
I am back online with my new purchase, and hope for the best!

cheers!

Yeah, it’s terrible, especially when you pay €1000+ it should be good.

I think I just had bad luck, and here in Holland we call this “a Monday morning product” .

never had anything with my phone and Apple Watch.

I am traumatized by this experience 😂.

I put my previous screen protector on the MacBook. Until I have a new protector.

there are some specs of dust here and there. But I forgot that I placed this yesterday after a nap.

so I noticed all this things on the screen, and I was in stress “no, not again”. After wiping with a cloth, and already checking the warranty page, I realized this “old “ protector was on it.

No problems here. I think you made the right call on paying more to buy from a better shop. Everybody has a dud roll off the assembly line on occasion. It's nice to know they won't hassle you if there is an issue. I won't put up with repairs on a brand new device. The one time I had an issue with a new iMac, apple swapped it for me. I never had a single issue with the second one.

yeah, the only reason to have bought it there, would be the €100 discount, compared to the normal price. I accepted that I had a silver one instead of the space gray I wanted.

If that was the only issue, it would be not a problem.

I will not post any shop names on the forum, but I always buy my expensive electronics, in a shop where you can actually visit.

Went out of my comfort zone and ordered in a shop that does everything with postal service, never again.

We don't have apple near where I live ( its in Holland, so travel time is not really existent, but because of covid they were closed in January).

Maybe I should have stand my ground the first time, but in a combination of anger, panic, and disappointment, I accepted the repair, on a 2 week old device.

The shop actually told me, they discussed this with apple, and they choose for repair, with an authorized repair centre.
That they gave me a replacement screen with dead pixels, is beyond me. I don't have the pictures anymore.

But I always thought the MacBook Air brand, on the bottom of the screen, looked off with the replacement.
After some research today, I found a lot of posts about this repaircentre, that claim they use not genuine parts.

Anyway, I am so happy that it is done and over now. Living in the uncertainty, what will happen, when it will, and if the next time, the repair will be good, is not good for the mental health.

In the end it is only a laptop, but I purchased it with a reason, so the whole experience was really nerve-racking!
