I would think that if it is sweat-related the palmrests would be affected as well.

Typically an "outside" corner will have a thinner coat of whatever is used as protection, especially when trying to make it a sharp corner like this is. Same reason you need to be careful at panel edges/gaps when buffing a car.

Yes but how frequently your sweaty hand touching the corner as opposed to resting on the palmrest?

And I find that to be uncomfortable so my hand never rests on the corner. I suppose, just like adult diapers, it depends.
