Just got an apple tv (3rd Generation) 64Gb. Works fine until I turn it off. Will turn TV on for about a half hour but if left off any longer the only way to get it to turn back on is to unplug the power cord and plug back in. I have a sony android tv only a few years old. Any ideas?

I think you mean 3rd gen Apple TV 4K, otherwise known as the 2022 ATV4K or ATV4K3.

This might confuse some with the Apple TV 3.

When attempting to turn it back on, does the light turn on in the front of the ATV?

What buttons on the remote are you pressing to wake up the Apple TV after it goes to sleep?

Just the power button. Is there something else that should be pressed? Also could it be the connection with HDMI cable?

That works for me, but to be thorough, try pressing the menu button as well as the home/TV button and see if the light on the ATV turns on.

Also try pointing the remote towards the ATV. It should work without direct line of sight, but just checking.

Also could it be the connection with HDMI cable?
Probably not. From a sleep, the light should come on the ATV when you press the buttons already mentioned. If the light doesn't come on, it is most likely not waking up from sleep.

Try resetting your remote. In 6 years of owning an Apple TV I have never had to reset the remote, but I had to a couple of times now for the most recent Apple TV (2022). Control was just being flakey as if it was putting out random signals. Maybe its confusing your Apple TV. To reset the remote, Press and hold the TV/Control Center button and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold the buttons down for about 5 seconds, or until the status light on your Apple TV turns off and on again. Release the buttons
