I downloaded Lion and installed it on my MacBook Pro but I can't find the installation file. I'd like to make a Lion DVD, but can't find any downloaded file on my hard drive.

I've done a search for large files and there are no really large files anywhere.

It deletes itself after you install.

It gets deleted after install. You can redownload it. I think you need to move the app out of applications to prevent the delete.

No, I don't know why they did this.

You can download it again. Google instructions on how to make a bootable CD from the installer file and do that immediately after you download it. As has been pointed out, once the install has completed, the installer files are deleted.

That way, you can install Lion on all the Macs you own, and when you subsequently invoke MAS, you will see Lion under Purchases as installed.
