after reaching 100% charge and remaining plugged in, when does iPhone 13 Pro start using power from the battery itself?

or does it keep on using power from the charger until the charging cable is disconnected?

the reason I'm asking is I'm testing my replacement iPhone 13 Pro. It has been on the charger since last night. I've been using all morning with the charging cable still connected. The battery meter has never dropped from 100% to 99% or lower....

Thanks!

The iPhone always uses power from the battery. Always.
The charger just charges the battery. iPhone can’t run on just a charger.

When the battery charge level is at 100%, it could be 100% or 96%. After the charger shuts off, the battery will continue to discharge for quite a while before the indicator drops below 100%. Apple fudges the battery charge info when it’s near full so that the battery indicator doesn’t drop to 99% 30 seconds after you unplug it.

that's what I always thought.....

the iPhone 13 Pro was connected to the Apple 20W USB-C charger last night

when I woke up around 7 this morning, it was showing 100%. I didn't disconnect the cable.

I have been using the phone like that since then. (including streaming movies on Netflix and music on YouTube Music) That's almost 8 hours... and as of right now, it still says 100%. I finally unplugged it just now. (still says 100%)

This is normal, right?(I hope... because I can't stand having to exchange the phone again)

The battery showed 100% because you kept it plugged in. It is normal for the battery to say 100% when left fully charged and plugged in.

About what you have exchanged the phone for the first time? I have 13 pro and just asking!
For the charging question is ok to be like that!

the first one went back because I didn't want to take the chance: :)

here's the thread:

Pretty sure all that usage while on the charger is counted toward total charging cycles. During that time the battery is constantly drawn down (a little) and replenished.

If your phone would normally go from 100% to 0% in 8 hours of usage, then That same usage while plugged in will still be considered one battery charging cycle.
