I realise the title is intended to be provocative, but even though I view M5 as being a very good gen on gen upgrade and M6 Max is exciting I think we need to be realistic: N2 is promising about a 10% to 15% performance improvement, so Apple will once again be leaning heavily on its design team to offer transformational performance upgrades. Certainly possible, but we can't be sure they will deliver.

We can be sure that, no matter what it does, there will be some guy calling it a failure and another guy telling people to wait for the next model because it will be even faster.

After the M5 failure I'm more excited then ever for a True Update like a redesign, and OLED display and M6 Max CPU Thant really brings tangible gains not just a Bus upgrade which helps the M5 be more than it is.

Thank you Apple for delaying a real upgrade til M6 and 2027.
Not sure why people have such hardons for redesigns.

The MBP is a tool not a designer handbag. Frankly the m1 to m5 pro is damn near perfect in terms of hardware, durability, form, and looks. It’s the computer equivalent of a porsche 911. If the OLED screen in the m6pro allows them to shave a little weight off the top great, redesign it to be a mm thinner and leave the rest alone.

I certainly hope there is no radical redesign as that’s likely to entail mucking with useful things like ports, battery capacity, cooling, the insanely great speakers, or perfect trackpad. If they muck with the m6 design in any way that makes it form over function, i will buy one of the last M5pros so as to go out on a thoroughbred.
