Hello guys and happy holidays !

I bought my iPhone 12 2 months ago and yesterday I had to upgraded the iCloud storage to 50 Gb, so after the upgrade I was checking with my notes and my recent notes all disappeared. What I realized is the notes that I have now are from 4 years ago, so I don’t understand why my recent notes disappeared. I checked my iCloud account and the recent notes aren’t there, I also check my Mac, iPad notes and all I have are notes from 4 years ago. Before I bought the iPhone 12, I used to have a Samsung S20, so I didn’t use my iCloud account for years but now I backed to iPhone. I also downloaded the iMyFone D-Back but my recent notes weren’t there. I checked the settings of all my emails account if the note is “on” and apparently is ok, and I didn’t change any password on it, so I don’t know what I should do to recover it. Any tips will be helpful.

Thank you and happy new year !

If you wrote these notes on your phone, were the old notes visible back then too or did you log into a different Apple ID at some stage?

Check the “on my iPhone “ section in notes app as well - maybe the recent notes were saved there. Also checking you see a recently deleted folder and check its content.

Thank you for your replayed.
I don’t remember having another Apple ID and the recently deleted folder is empty. You said to check “on my iPhone “ how can I check on it ?

In my notes app there are two sections: iCloud and on my iPhone although I usually only use iCloud. It’s the topmost folder view available.

It sounds to me like you have your notes in your "gmail" (or other email account) and in the Notes app are watching only the iCloud section. Go to the view menu, select show folders and choose the one you intend to keep on using.

This is my noteApp looks like. The 29 recently deleted are those from years ago that I just deleted. The 2 notes are the ones I just created. Well, I just gave up trying to recover.. just don’t understand what happened.
