Age of Empires 3 cross-platform MP?

Can you play AOE3 Mac against windows computers in multiplayer? I read that you cannot but, I wondered if maybe they enabled it in later expansions or patches. I want to find a good RTS to play cross-platform other than SC2 and I really enjoyed AOE2.
