I've had my Late 2011 Macbook Pro for a little over a year now and just noticed that the "A" key on my keyboard is quite odd looking. What could make this happen? All my other keys are fine and is this a easy fix? I'm assuming the paint or something is coming off.

Picture is pretty big so I will just link to it - http://i50.tinypic.com/2u74pcp.jpg

The keys on a MBP aren't painted. They're molded out of two different colors of plastic.

It's pretty easy to pop the keys off, but be careful, there are tiny plastic tabs that are easily broken. I believe you can buy the keys on ifixit.

Just leave it. Call it the "Star Trek" special edition keyboard.

Thanks!

EDIT: Didn't see any on ifixit but saw some on eBay.

Why not try the Apple store first if there is one nearby? For all you know they might replace it for free.

They have replaced countless screws for me before :p
