Okay, success! The iPod has been updated.....now for the test to see whether or not the battery is fixed! I'll update you when I know. :D

Thanks for everyone's help!! ;)

Make sure you quit and restart iTunes ... i had to do this when i reformatted; iTunes as not recognizing the iPod. After a iTunes restart it was fine. :) {EDIT NM ... i see you got it back up.}

Good luck.

Okay I have managed to get it working and re-formatted, then I fully charged it. This morning, using it at work, I've managed to get through 6 songs before it died. :mad:

Looks like I need to phone Apple then? :confused:

Sounds like the battery is farked.

Just ring Apple, be nice and calm and tell them in detail what you have done (restored firmware, full charge etc) They may have a suggestion that could fix it.

Are you sure you are fully charging it? The USB port you are using is definitely powered right? If all that checks out then Apple will likely replace it. No need for wrath, let cooler heads prevail. It's a shame but it's just not possible to ensure that every single unit of the millions a day that they are making is totally up to scratch - most companies would kill for Apple's current build quality.

I agree - it should recognise it but with iTunes open it doesn't. I will follow your steps again tonight but I'm pretty sure I tried that last night. It's been annoying me that's for sure and thanks for the continued support guys!! :)
Try reseting your mac. Sometimes it keeps a record of the previous connection and hence does not recognise the new Nano. This happened to a friends and when we reset the mac and Nano it worked ok. If that fails leave the Nano plugged into your mac/PC and then restart it. That normally works if I have a poblem with my iPod.

Good luck.

Okay - I've spoken to Apple and it's being collected and sent off for someone to look at, but now, I have a new problem entirely!!

All of a sudden, I cannot move or do anything with the Nano!! The padlock that appears on the screen when you put the hold button on is now always on!! The scroll switch isn't working at at either!! :eek:

Any suggestions? I'm very upset :(

I assume you've tried restarting the Nano? *Hold down Menu and the selection button at the same tiome for a few seconds.

Hope you get a working Nano soon. :(
