AHHH keyboard problem with mac on hp pavilion

this is mac 10.4.6
trying to install it on a hp pavilion ze4900
boots fine
installs fine
but when i do the first boot it says i need to hook up a keyboard
the keyboard does just fine during installlation!!!
AHHH this is driving me crazy!
mac is on all of my other computers, this is the only one left i have yet to put it on
