Where do you see these up? I just checked app store and neither AIM free or beejive shows as new version. Searching they both show old versions too in appstore.

Tim

Check in Itunes. If that doesnt work, delete the app, and redownload it. It will download the new update!

as soon as i updated it now wont open, closes immediately, and ive restarted multiple times.... in fact, NONE of my 3rd part apps will open now, my phone has worked flawlessly since i got it friday, and right when i did this 3.0.1 AIM update all 3rd party apps close instantly....

any ideas?!?!?

Try force closing Safari, Ipod, and Messages.

but ive even turned the phone completely off for a few mins, then booted up, and same thing... or is that some random trick i should still try?

Could someone tell me how this is any different than setting up AIM to send all ims when your not logged on to your phone as a text? Ive been doing that for years now and im confused as to why this is any better?

It's a good alternative to those who don't text much and thus won't have text plans that allow for such massive usage of it.

For me only the paid version has been updated, unless i'm missing something. in the APP store the free version is 2.0.2.4 and the paid version is 3.0.1

anybody see the free version updated

I'll be cancelling my SMS. I've no need for it now. Heck, MMS doesn't even work anyway.

There's no way to send a pic via AIM is there?

Does anyone know a way around this problem:

the aim free app only allows you to stay logged into the account for 24 hours before it logs you out. If you are logged out after that 24 hours aim will no longer push messages to your iphone.

does anyone know of anything that we can do to ensure we don't get logged out after 24 hours WITHOUT logging in everyday if we don't get a message within that 24 hour period?

yeah that would be great, but then if you're on the computer it will still push messages to the phone

Its 24 hours from everytime you open the app. So just simply open the app once every 24 hours and it resets the 24 hours. Usually not a problem for me since i end up getting an im in the 24 hours and opening it anyway!

yes, as my initial post says, i'm aware of that, however, not everyone is on aim 24/7 and what it to be still active without having to remember to re-log into it to reset the 24 hour timer. i thought maybe someone knew of a way to override this by going into a computer based AIM program. ichat doesn't have anything like that unfortunately.

like people have said earlier, this totally sucks if you also go on iChat on macs and people who send you messages will send double to the iPhone as well. Then you'd have to go into the iPhone AIM app and actually physically sign off, but then you'd have to remember to sign in again later on when you're not at the computer, at which point you realize what's the point of push notification if you can't always be signed in and be receiving messages during that time?

I really thought the devs would be smart enough to implement some system where it detects that you're on the computer version and to stop sending messages through the iPhone one. I'm probably going to be turning off push notifications until they have a fix for this.

Pretty easy though to shut it off on the Phone. I can live with this.
I'm wondering how Beejive handles things.

Can anyone shed light on this?

If I IM a friend who has a basic non-internet phone with only SMS, she gets it AS a text. Then she responds to me. I get that as an AIM IM and don't get charged for getting a text. Right?

correct. AIM uses data, so anything you receive through AIM is data whether the person on the other end sent it via SMS or not. That SMS is going to an AOL server which is then sending the message to your phone via data.
