Hello everyone. My problem here is that the AIM app isn't working. I was messing around trying to fix the problem and I've figured out the conditions of the issue.

If I'm not connected to a network, the AIM app works normally (minus the Internet connection part of it, of course).

If I am connected to a network, the AIM app opens, but all I see is a blank white screen. This shows for maybe 10 seconds, and then the app shuts itself down.

If I turn on the Wifi but start the AIM app before I'm connected to a network, then the AIM app works normally. However, quitting the app results in the same problem as in the above scenario.

I've tried redownloading the app and resetting the network settings. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks.

No idea what it is but I can confirm I have exactly the same issue as yourself at the moment.

I've deleted the App then downloaded and installed again without success...

Yeah, me too... A workaround I've been using is just locking the screen and waiting for the Touch to disconnect from my network before unlocking it and quickly opening AIM...but I much rather have the issue fixed than go through so much trouble >.>

I had this issue for about a week. I had been using the free version of aim, and finally deleted it. I went ahead and bought aim, and haven't had problems since. I don't know why there would be any difference, but there was.

Having had the issue for several days, this morning it appears to be working again - without any input or changes by me.

If it starts again I'll switch to the paid version and give that a try.

Thanks.

Rik

AIM is a buggy piece of cr-app.

Look at the crash logs (~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/[iPod Name]) and you'll likely find a litany of crash logs generated by AIM failures.

I had the same problem with the blank screen, and the logs suggested that it was trying, but failing, to connect to an AOL server. Playing with the network connection can get it beyond the blank screen, but obviously, it doesn't handle connection failures gracefully.

Then there are the spontaneous crashes while using the app...you get what (AOL hopes) you'll pay for.
