AIM Problems

I recently purchased my first Mac last week, a MBP, and downloaded AIM. Since then I've had several instances where it has shut down unexpectedly and one time it even stopped responding. Just wanted to check that this was due to the fact that the Mac AIM seems to be pretty ancient and wanted to make sure it wasn't my computer even though I'm pretty sure it's AIM

Why aren't you using iChat? ...It will work with your existing AIM account.

Give iChat a try. Reports I've seen on OS-X AIM haven't been pretty.

thanks all i guess i just didnt really give iChat a fair chance. maybe I'll even end up trying adium
