AIM Push Question

Hi, I have AIM push working great but i searched the entire app looking for a way to change the Push sound ? Is there a way to do this ? If so can someone please tell us how ?

Nope, push notifications, just like email notifications, are a fixed sound.

Pretty lame really, but it is what it is.

with jailbreaking you can fix that very easily.

otherwise, just turn the sound off via settings.

how did u get Push to work on AIM ? lol. I don't have the "Push Notifications" setting under preferences.

1. Install newest version of AIM.
2. Run the newest version of AIM.
3. Hit "allow" when it asks you do start push notification services.

Yeah, if it's still like it was last night, you have to delete AIM, then re-download it. It wasn't showing up in the updates tab for some reason.

That's actually quite true. If MacGuyver had a jailbroken phone, each episode would have ended 20 minutes early.

Nope, push notifications, just like email notifications, are a fixed sound.

It seems the developer can choose to offer different sounds. Beejive for example offers their standard sounds or you can switch to those of AIM, MSN, etc. I thought the beejive notification sound was not noticeable enough so I switched from "default" to "aim" and my notification sound changed. It just depends on the app.

It depends on how many notifications you're receiving.
The more you get, the more it will drain the battery.

Beejive has a few sounds to choose from, the default bubble sound was so lame, I was very glad to find I could change the "push" sound.
