Any suggestions or old threads on this concept? I am looking to keep my AIM/GChat chatting inside of a terminal window.
Thanks!

I was looking to set this up in terminal so that I can connect from home and not have to use a visual interface to the same IM session

This can't be sent in a terminal app but you can use vlc to provide a remote session to see everything on your screen remotely...

why not use some Linux based programs? i have been using Finch - its pretty great. im not sure what sort of compatibility there is naked install wise, but it can definetely be installed. it will work over SSH.

I use 'naim' on a NetBSD machine I use (works with AIM, IRQ, IRC, and lily.). According to it's site here and here, you can install it on OS X through DarwinPorts or compile it yourself I guess, haven't used this on Mac OS personally.
