If there's no iPad Air 3 this year only mini 4 & iPad pro

Do you think apple will lower the prices of the air 2 & air 1

Or keep it the same

You can find iPad Air 2 on sale for $399 all the time. Sometimes best buy has them for $375. That's cheaper than a refurb from Apple. My guess is they will keep prices the same but you will be able to get one on sale pretty easy.

This can be very dangerus for Apple. Now the iPad 2 Air is about at -20% on last year. You can immagine what can happen if there is not a new model and no a less price.
If some of that drop off was due to people waiting for an Air 3 (or Pro) then there could be a surge in Air 2 sales after the announcement of no Air 3 is made.

I personally have been holding off for 6 months to see what Apple does re:Air 3/Pro. If neither one materializes (or is not what I'm looking for) then I'll get an Air 2.

Dangerous my a**. The iPad remains the best selling single tablet bar none. If there isn't an Air3, I think you will see an increase this year in sales anyway from many older models getting upgraded, helped by ios9.

The only real challenge to it would be the Windows tablet and the only way to counter that might be the rumored Pro.

iPad update this year will likely happen, it'll just probably be a chip update with nothing much to talk about.

Maybe not a price drop but a storage increase to 32GB as a base model?

I don't remember there being many iPad Mini 3 rumors before its release (besides the addition of Touch-ID), so it's possible that there be an iPad Air 3 with the new rose gold color and another feature that sets it apart from the iPad Air 2, much like Touch-ID in the iPad Mini 3. Then everybody will complain about how it's a ripoff, much like what happened with the iPad Mini 3.

It's hard to believe that there will be no iPad Air 3 this year, since they have updated the iPad at least once a year.

The rumor mill seems to be pointing to no Air 3 in 2015, possibly due to the introduction of the iPad Pro and the Mini 4. But in real life, Apple is always capable of surprises.

Thinking about it, I think that is exactly what they'll do - keep the Air 2 as is and just add a new colour variant into the mix.

people are going to be upset that the ipad got it and not the iphone 6s
True, but people will also be upset if there is no iPad Air 3 or if there's minimal differences between it and the iPad Air 2, so they will be upset either way.

Imagine if the only upgrade the iPhone 6 got was 32GB as a base model and not anything else. That's basically what can happen to the iPad Air this year.

If there's no iPad Air 3, I could see them dropping the price down about 50 dollars if Apple is looking to be a little charitable this coming holiday season.

However, I don't see that very likely, but I wouldn't be shocked if they knock the price down by a hair in order to look better — even if the Air 2 is a very good machine and will be for years to come.

I think there will be an Air 3, but it'll just be a chip upgrade and that's probably literally it. It'll be like the Mini 3 last year in my opinion, except that was even worse of an "upgrade" and was just Touch ID and a color addition.

The Air 2 went down to $350 at Best Buy for a brief window in July. I agree that they'll keep the same list price, but I'd expect to see $350 again around Black Friday, if not before.

Would be nice if Apple would release an Air 3, keep the same specs and fix the vibration issue. The Air 2 is already fast at is and no where near being stressed.

Is waiting for an iPad air 3/4 or is it safe to buy now?

Wait until next Wednesday, after the keynote you'll have concrete information and will be able to make a properly informed decision based upon your own particular needs.

Meh. If there is an update to the air line it will probably be a quiet release after the pro is announced. Maybe they could get the parts because of the new mini and pro.
