Is there any advantage of using my MacBook Pro 61w adapter compared to the 30w that came with the M1 Air? Curious if it charges faster or does not matter. Thanks!

Thanks - On Apple’s website it says the 61w is compatible with M1 Air.

Yep - that is why I am asking on here if there has been any testing done yet. 😊

There is ZERO issue using any other Apple charger > 30W with your MBA.. the MBA device itself is what regulates the incoming current and wattage, and it only uses what it can. Don't let others incorrect assumptions scare you off.

edit: to check if it does pull in more then 30W, when plugged into a higher wattage adapter open System Report > Power and see what it reports

The 61W charger does charge a litte bit faster. I ran my M1 Macbook Air down to 10 %, shut it down and charged it for 60 mins.
30W that came in the box: Charged from 10 % to 66 % in 60 mins.
61W Apple power adapter: Charged from 10 % to 78 % in 60 mins.

Not a dramatic difference, but noticeable. On the road, I would still prefer the 30W but at home, I wouldn't mind the extra weight and size of the 61W charger.

I think the most your Air will draw is around 35W so the 60W will make a small difference. Not enough to buy a bigger charger, but if you already have one use it.
