I was just thinking... If the MBA is using the C2D, which is an old processor EOL'ing by next year, what would happen after EOL? Apple can't go on using C2D forever, they'd have to switch to sandy bridge, unless they have large reserves of C2D. Does that mean that the MBA will be updated with SB soon again when C2D EOL? The MBP 13' would certainly have to make the move to SB too. Will there be a media event early next year that will announce both the MBP 13' and MBA updates to SB? If so, people should really wait for the SB MBA instead of buying the outdated C2D one now, and reconsider the MBP with SB. Opinions on this? Thanks.

Just joining the conversation here, for me I would always choose the MBP over the Air. It offers more power and you can upgrade it, you can stick an SSD in their if you want, effectively making it a way more powerful version of the Macbook Air. It's a no contest for me.

From the benchmarks that are out there, the 13" MBA is as fast if not faster then the 13"MBP. The costs are nearly the same, though the MBA will run you a bit more money.

The only piece of advice is to max out the ram and the SSD drive.

I'd agree with maxing out the ram at the very least. I'd also do the hard drive too but it depends on money.

As for the benchmarks, you need to be careful. IIRC, *detailed* benchmarks show the Air doing better in some areas and worse in others, depending on whether or not disk access or number crunching were the major part of that task.

For general use, I agree, it will probably be faster, but it isn't a completely clear cut thing.
