Air pods and Siri not using air pods when making calls

I have a problem with the AirPods with Siri and the iOS 17.4

When I use Siri to make a phone call, the connection to the AirPod goes back to the phone’s regular speaker, and I have to choose the AirPod again manually, which is very annoying.

Seems to have been an issue since iOS 17, see below. Does anyone know if this issue is fixed?

Update to 17.5 and see if that fixes it.
