iPad Air Smart Case Compatibility with 30 Pin to Lightning Adapter

just wondering if the smart case for the iPad Air is compatible with the 30 pin to lightning adapter (the compact one, not the .2m one)

I know that they are not compatible with the iPhone 5s case, and the pictures seem to show that it is the same, but I just wanted to confirm with everyone here before I made the purchase.
