I’ve noticed one iPhone 17 model in the wild and it was an Air 🤷🏼♀️ toted by my Doordash driver. Though I guess I could have seen base 17’s and not have noticedOP is trying excessively hard to justify the purchase of the air it seems. Which hey, if you love your phone that is awesome! But don't get too cocky over the rest of our 'brick' phones cause out of all the 17s, it seems only one is getting discontinued
Most people probably don’t realize the Air exists yet. That will take some time, and for a while people might still just get what they’re used to. They break the screen on their Pro, they get a new Pro without thinking about it
I’m a pretty heavy user, and I’m doing fine with my Air. Been averaging 7 hours of screen on time per day and using <75 percent charge. If some people want to carry around a phone with two days of battery life, that’s fine. Can’t we just have both and c☮️exist?

I keep hearing this idea that most people don’t know the Air exists and when they do it will be a massive hit. We need to be realistic, we are living in a 2025 not 95. Things become massive hits without one once of promoting but simply being seen on social media where I have seen plenty of Air videos. Let’s give people a little more credit and just call a spade a spade, this phone might just not be right for most people . I remember seeing a lady maybe in her late 60s early 70s getting a new phone the day after launch. If you love your phone great, just be happy with that.
Agreed. What exactly is the logic there? Most of Earth's population is living in a cave and waiting for word of mouth to learn about the new iPhones?

Looks like an Android phone of years gone by. Those dreadful curved edges are nice looking but a horrible experience when using the phone.
People that don’t care about tech… don’t care about tech. Sure stuff about the iPhone Air comes into our feeds because of the algorithm, but people that aren’t watching tech reviews and stuff, are they seeing those videos in their feeds? My parents don’t know, I can tell you that
I have T-mobile and on their hompage currently is the 17 Pro. Verizon’s homepage has the 17 Pro and 17. ATT’s homepage has the 17 Pro. At the top of Apple’s website is the 17 Pro, then the Air beneath that
I just don’t think there’s been enough time for everyone to organically have all learned about it or experienced it, it’s only been a month
By far the best iPhone since the X - almost two-day battery life, razor slim and light, top processor and nice camera. Absolutely nothing to complain about.
Those same people who don’t care about tech, are unlikely to buy a $999 iPhone Air when it comes time to replacing their phones. They’ll buy the 17 Pro because carriers are pushing it or 17 base because it offers better value and is a safer purchase in terms of features. These are the Toyota RAV4 buyers of the smartphone world.
Maybe, we’ll have to see. It could be the people that gravitate toward the Air are more like the Miata/sports car buyers of the smartphone world, okay with giving up utility for the style and lightness once they’ve seen it or experienced it

I remember people thinking the Plus and Mini ranges needed time to catch on…but we will leave that conversation as we know how it ended.
Excited to see what Apple do with the next Air, but what remains true is exactly what you eluded to, the market has spoken with their wallets, and that does seem to disappoint fans of the Air.
As long as everyone is happy with what they chose that is what matters, but it seems some think there is some big conspiracy against the Air.
How likely do you think that is?
- Buy Air sight unseen (pre-orders): No back orders.
- Buy Air after seeing in-store (first week): No back orders.
- Buy Air after being available worldwide in-stores (30+ days): No back orders.
So the innovators, enthusiasts, and early adopters aren't choosing iPhone Air, but the mainstream and laggards will? Mainstream buyers are the "wait-and-see" crowd. They are pragmatic buyers. The laggards are buying phones as a grudge purchase because their old one died or isn't supported anymore. They're driven by necessity and cost.
This is why waiting until your parents hear about iPhone Air is a pointless exercise. They're unlikely to choose "form over function," which is what iPhone Air is.
First, it's just the "Air," it's not an acronym, so "AIR" is not the name.
Second, this is just a random concept image of what the next iPhone might look like. In reality, that's very unlikely for at least a few years.
