Just a quick questions - where are the air vents on the 2017 MBP (no touch bar). I've looked on the sides, the space between the screen and the body (like the 2015 one), and underneath it.

Or are the vents in the space where the speakers are on the left and right next to the keyboard?

I only ask as I've just put a new hard case on and making sure it doesn't cover them. I've googled it but can't seem to find anything conclusive. On my older MPB (2015 one) they're on the bottom at each side and look to be in the space between the bottom of the screen and the body of the laptop.

Thanks in advance!

Stay safe,
Ben

A lot of covers and cases for the 2016-2019 era 13" MacBook Pros don't account for the differences between the function-keys model ones and the TouchBar model ones and just assume that you have the latter.

That being said, the function-keys model of 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro (just like the Two-Port 2019 and 2020 Intel 13" MacBook Pros that replace them) were designed to be the modern successor to the 2010-2017 MacBook Airs (while the 2018-2020 MacBook Air is the successor to the 12" Retina MacBook, as confusing as that sounds). All that to say that, it's a different class of Intel CPU (one that would've been more geared for a 2010-2017 style MacBook Air than would be geared for a 2012-2015 style Retina MacBook Pro successor), and that it doesn't need the vents that the Four-Port versions need (by virtue of having the class of CPUs that have always been present in retina model 13" MacBook Pros). So, yeah, your version doesn't have them because it, theoretically, doesn't need them.

Flip your MacBook over so the screen is facing down. Look at the hinge. There are air vents.

The 2016 and 2017 non-Touch Bar models and the 2019 and 2020 low-end Touch Bar models have the following cooling system:
