I'm using the latest beta air video hd server , in the preference section theres a new option for hardware acceleration decoding and encoding
should i turn this on for better streaming? is this going to use more cpu or less
i have a 2012 mac mini base

In theory it should lessen the load on your CPU. Basically, instead of the software doing all of the heavy lifting and running a bunch of processes to encode and decode video, the software will put to use a special node in your processor for that exact purpose. Your Mac Mini should be compatible, as it has a newer intel processor in it. I would say enable it and see if it makes using your computer while streaming easier. 🙂
