Hey guys

I just got the iPhone 13 Pro this morning and neither my wife or I can send or receive airDrops from photos. She’s on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. We’ve rebooted to no avail.

Perhaps related to the Apple Watch communication issues I am also experiencing.

Anyone?

Make sure you’re up to date in General/ Software Update and then turn off and on Bluetooth and Airdrop.
Working fine for me back and forth with 12PM, 13PM and 12mini.

It’s possible that it may be an iOS15 problem. I can’t airdrop from a 13, 11 and XS Max. Which is odd because I’ve been running the beta this whole time with no airdrop issues until the final release.

Is this the watch communication issue you are havkng?

As far as airdrop goes, I had no problem sending and receiving between my ipad Pro and my iPhone 13 pro max.

I was able to AirDrop from my iPhone 6s Plus iOS 10.3.3 to my iPhone 13 Pro Max iOS 15 this morning, but did have some trouble initially making the older phone “see” the newer one. Sometimes it helps to cycle Wi-Fi / Bluetooth on the older iPhone or newer one.

I have the same problem. Airdrop is not working between iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone SE 2020. Both are on iOS 15.

Same problem here. I have issues with Airdrop not working between an Iphone 11 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max. The 13 can send, but can't receive, and the contact cards are greyed out.

Correction. It doesn’t work on YOUR iPhone 13 . Your thread title assumes it’s a global issue when it could be an iOS 15 bug

It is somewhat hit and miss since iOS 15, I have some successful airdrops and other times it just point blank refuses to work.
I have noticed it finds the other person and I can tap them it says waiting but no dialogue appears for receiving device so not sure where or what is causing the communication breakdown.

I am having this issue between my iPhone 13 Pro Max and my housemate’s new iPhone 13. Both devices are on the latest iOS 15.0.1 with airdrop set to everyone.

I have the same issue on my 13 max pro my wife's phone shows up twice one with her contact photo and one under other only the other works

Same exact problem. Just got two new 13 Pro Max today. Set them both up. Both phones can see the other via airdrop. Trying to send any photo (single or multiple) the receiving device never gets the dialogue to accept photos. I can send from my phone to wife's iPad fine. Each device shows the other person which disappears when I turn off airdop on that device so I know they are communicating. They just both refuse to issue dialog box to accept any photos

I tried rebooting both phones. Cycling wifi/bluetooth. changed airdrop from contacts to everyone. I am wondering if each phone is trying to send to our old iPhone 11's. I turned them off but have not erased them. I don't think this would be the case as these devices should be looking for nearby devices for aidrop only and not signaling to old devices powered down.

Wondering how many others have this same problem. If this is device specific, a setting that is an issue or OS version specific. I'm on the latest iOS stable version.

Same AppleID by any chance? Same AppleID devices will receive without a dialogue. Since they are both yours then it assumes you want to be sending between those devices. I use AirDrop between my devices quite often and never get the Accept / Decline prompt.

Point is if its the same AppleID then check really carefully on the device because the file could be hiding somewhere (Files Downloads for example) or if its a photo and you are under "Library" its going to be arranged by that photos creation date. Look under Albums > Recent.

If its different AppleID's I'm not really sure however I would start by turning all other Apple devices off. Take a NEW photo. Then try to AirDrop it. Try it several times....

This will at least help eliminate file conflicts and other device conflicts. Try several times because I swear I AirDrop myself something earlier, it went through but it wasn't there. Did it again and it was fine, couldn't recreate the issue.

Separate AppleID on both phones. One is mine and other is wife's ID and we each have our own. The ONLY crossover of any kind is on my phone I am required after signing in on a new phone to enter the pw of my wife's ID for the apple store since some very old purchases 10 years ago from app store were made using her ID. However checking both app store and cloud it is all my own AppleID on my iPhone.

I found this morning that if I hit the airdrop icon it comes up with her name and also her device. If I choose he device specifically it works. If I choose her name with the airdrop icon under "People" this is when it fails 100% of the time. It appears that her AppleID name doesn't connect to her new iPhone for purposes of Airdrop. Same on mine. So it is something with how Apple identifies people and links those people to a device that is a bug.

Oh boy, sounds like some AirDrop tomfoolery.

When you tap person from people, every one of her devices that is in range and unlock should receive a notification to accept or decline the air drop. She can then choose to accept it from which device she would like. When I send from my work phone to me under People (different AppleID's for privacy) I get a notification on my iPhone, iMac, MBP and iPad all at the same time...its weird but I rarely have all of them on at the same time.

Below people you have devices, those are YOUR devices or at least should be. This is for you to transfer files between your own devices.

Good luck getting this sorted out, head hurts thinking about it. What I can say is go into Settings > AppleID (your name at the top). Scroll down to devices and make sure those are only yours, if there is a device you don't use anymore especially if its shared then remove it and have the person using it use their AppleID. Then scroll back up and tap "Name, Phone Numbers, Email" make sure those emails and phone numbers are yours, remove emails and numbers you don't use.

Then do the same to her phone. I'm sure she's not fed up with you messing with her phone by now...lol

If you guys are sharing Apps then set up a family plan. It gives BETTER benefits then sharing an AppleID IMO. Hopefully those apps are still available in the store for download.

I had a shared email address between both my personal and work AppleID's and for some reason this carried over a lot of data. I wasn't logged into anything with either address it was just an extra but since they were shared it associated my full name, address, phone number, profile picture, etc...Again this email wasn't being used to sign into anything it was just on my AppleID as an extra one. Once I removed it from my personal account the work account forgot all that data. Unfortunately I didn't try AirDrop but there is a good chance it would have associated that email to me and made the work phone part of "my devices".

Hopefully that helps some. Good luck!
