I'm wondering if iOS7 and Mavericks can share files/pictures/etc. over airdrop since both seem to share the same protocols. Has anyone tried this or know if it works?

They have the same name, but unfortunately are not the same protocol, so it's not possible at this time.

Good to know

I hope at one point they allow the 2 device types to talk to each other over Airdrop. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I just assumed it would work. I mean, they're both called AirDrop! A strange omission, to be sure. Well, maybe it'll work by the final releases.

is 10.9 airdrop will support to ios upcoming official ios7 ??
beta ios7 have airdrop is will ? do with mac os

Yes, this should really be fixed for sale of consistency and actual functionality. Are there any technical hurdles to prevent ios and osx work with each other's AirDrop?

Airdrop support 10.9 to ios7

 simple
is mavericks 10.9 airdrop support ios 7 airdrop for transfer files between mac os x and ios

Seeing as they don't mention sharing with OSX anywhere that I'm aware of I'd consider it somewhat unlikely that the two airdrop systems will be compatible on release.

I agree, something like this would be a huge selling point for Apple. It would be like Apple's answer to NFC. The fact that they did not mention this at all makes me doubt that this will appear in GM release. However, this could always be an added feature...(iOS 7.1/iOS 8)
