I have an iPhone 6 and a retina MBP (early 2013) running OS X Yosemite . I'm trying to set up/allow airdrop between my computer & phone. I keep seeing screen shots of the phone on the computer for airdrop, but I can't see mine. First I tried Discoverable by "contacts only" on both, then "everyone" and I still don't see my phone in finder. They are both on the same Wi-Fi network & bluetooth is on both.
So what am I missing here?

No - iOS 8 changed that :) (Thank goodness!)

Keep trying what you already did - Making sure that on your iOS device that you enable it and just try turning it on so EVERYONE can send you something.

If you select a single file on the Mac does and share it (right click, share, airdrop) does it work then?

Can you see your Mac when you try to share something on your iOS Device?

I guess the advice would be keep trying. I've had more miss than hit with AirDrop. Once again Apple's quality control shines through!

Good luck!

I've had problems too. The mac finds my iPhone for like 10 seconds then it disapears again. So annoying...

Thanks, I guess I'll keep trying. Or just use dropbox or iPhoto.
I've never seen either the phone or mac "find" the other, but I'm glad I'm no the only one having this issue.

Yeah, I have sporadic issues with air drop as well. Usually, I have to put it on Everyone for it to work as it doesn't always work on Contacts Only. Also, I found that sometimes it will pick up my friends' phones by the device name and other times by the name I have in my contacts.

For me, my phone needs to be unlocked for it to show up in my computer. I assume this is to keep random people from just air dropping stuff to your phone/computer.
