AirDrop

I have a MacBook Pro, purchased in 2011.
Running OS X Yousemite Version 10.10.3.

I can't seem to get AirDrop to work.

There's no option to activate it, or configure it?
Nowhere can I say make visible to everyone etc...

Can anyone help?

The article mentions that the machine has to be a 2012 or newer for airdrop to work.

An older hint that turned on Airdrop on N Airport cards that worked back in the day:

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1

This still might work today.
