If that were the case, why was it documented in the Scottish courts that 147 people survived the explosion and decompression of Pan Am flight 103 which exploded at 31,000 ft but died of their impact related injuries on the ground? Indeed some survivors were found on the ground but medical attention didn't reach them in time.
In the Japan Airlines crash, everybody survived the depressurisation but only 4 people survived the ground collision.
