I'm using Airmail 5.5.82, on a late-2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro, running Ventura 13.1.

Suddenly today, with no changes to my system, Airmail is crashing on launch.

A search of Airmail support came up with nothing. Their chat is offline, probably for the weekend. A search of these forums gave me a goose-egg as well.

Any thoughts on how to fix?

Thanks in advance...

It's probably the plist file that's corrupted. plist carries all the data about the application and you need to find it in the library, delete it and reboot the machine which will then build a new one.
I suggest you do a search about plist files for where to find it etc.

I've been a Mac Guy long enough that I believe (though not 100% sure) I know where to look it. I'll give it a shot!

Ok...I was overconfident! Found Group Containers, found the Bloop folder within. But can't seem to find the correct file to delete. Not sure if I'm looking in the right place or not.

Happy to accept any input if anyone knows. Meanwhile, a-searchin' I will go...

just delete and reinstall. it will remember your settings (I think).

Ok...tried uninstalling, probably incompletely, even though I followed the instructions on Bloop's site.

Reinstalled, I briefly get to the window that would let me add accounts, but it crashes within seconds, just like before. Something is screwy here...

I rely on Hazel for clean sweeping my app uninstalls. do you have hazel and is this option checked?

I've downloaded Hazel, and I'm searching for info on how to use it as an uninstaller...no luck so far.

Alright.

Installed Hazel. Found the info on how to enable clean sweep. Did that. Trashed Airmail, got the prompt to get rid of the associated files, told Hazel to go for it.

Reinstalled Airmail...same crash after a couple of seconds that I had before.

So, this is a stumper, ain't it?

first delete Airmail.
in hazel goto settings and click on trash. enable app sweep
then install Airmail.
then delete airmail again.
hazel will ask you if you want to move airmails hidden files to trash also. say yes.

I just tried that...a few times...same results.

Library/application support…
Library/preferences
~library/application support…

Delete the plist and all associated files with the program. Then reinstall.

You can also try using it safe mode (restart with shift key held down).
I used Hazel, as suggested above, and it cleaned out all those files. No joy.

I just tried booting into safe mode, and that failed too. This is crazy. I'm using another client for now, but I prefer Airmail, so I'm still eager to find a solution to getting it back up and running.

I've heard from support...I'll keep you guys posted on any resolution; maybe it will help someone else along the way.

Been over a week since bloop asked for the crash logs, no response since.

Pretty close to just moving on.

It seems to be that the crash happens when, in System Settings, app sync is enabled in System Settings-->iCloud-->iCloud Drive

After long delays and fits and starts in communication between them, that's where we are. Let's see what comes next.
