Airplane mode?

Hi from Italy. As far as I know airplane mode is supposed tu shut down any type of connection (iphone, wifi and so on). So I was very surprised this morning noticing that (I wear the watch during the night for sleep tracking IN AIRPLANE MODE) the temperature shown by Yahoo Meteo complication changed from yesterday night. How is possible?

Some apps download an extended forecast and use that to update watch face temperatures if they are not online, I suspect.

The strange thing is that I never noticed something like that in iOS, for example...

On the watch it has to have it already, because of the time travel feature
