That is nice. The Apple TV is suppose to be able to do that too but AirPlaying to it from an iPhone, it's even featured in the product page of the iPhone 12. I hope an update can fix it.Confirmed on my TCL 8-series TV. It was able to playback footage recorded on my iPhone 12 Pro in Dolby Vision which is a nice touch.
It should. If my Roku Ultra (which is not DV capable) can convert the DV HDR file on my iPhone 12 Pro to HDR and display it on my LG E6 OLED tv, it should be easily fixed on the ATV4K.That is nice. My understanding is that it does work on an AppleTV if you have it set to always output DolbyVision which is not ideal. That is nice. Yeah. This update allows me to finally watch HBO Max content on my Roku, but only if I start on my phone or iPad and Airplay it. Having a native app would be ideal for me.- It has HBO Max.

I don't think that the Roku is doing the conversion. It's likely the phone doing the heavy lifting. It should. If my Roku Ultra (which is not DV capable) can convert the DV HDR file on my iPhone 12 Pro to HDR and display it on my LG E6 OLED tv, it should be easily fixed on the ATV4K.
It actually isn't real DV. It's not taking the raw DV file from the phone and displaying it as DV. It first converts it back to SDR, and then displays it as DV. So you are not getting the full bt2020 color gamut, but instead a rec709 color gamut converted to bt2020. So it will not look correct. My understanding is that it does work on an AppleTV if you have it set to always output DolbyVision which is not ideal.
Check in the roku settings with airplay that it only requires a one time code.I just updated my TCL and airplay worked for a second, but now it won't work anymore! I see my TV in as an option for airplay, but I cannot select it under Airplay Display! I am getting an error "Cannot connect to 65 in Roku TV"
My TV is on the same wifi network, that's why it worked for a second. Can anyone please please help me?

Try running the software update again it took serval install cycles to get airplay to show up at all on mine.Check in the roku settings with airplay that it only requires a one time code.
It's working now! Thanks everyone!Hi!
Can you tell me how the footage looked on your TV? Did it look the same as your iphone screen?
Thank you!
I have an Apple TV HD (4) and used to think the same as you, Roku is slow and the UI sucks. However, after buying a 4K HDR TCL Roku TV the new Roku UI is actually damn fast (ie. instant) and the app UIs are almost exactly the same so it just about doesn’t matter. It even has live tiles for the inputs and you can move them whenever you want and rename them whatever you want. It’s easily the best TV UI I’ve used. I do still love my iCloud Photo Screensaver on the Apple TV though.I also suspect that for many, myself included, we're willing to pay a premium for an additional box that's independent of the TV and its OS/upgrade cycle and that has that familiar Apple "feel" to it. I've never been a fan of Roku's clunky interface and "channel" model where everything feels slow; having my TV in Homekit and with AirPlay 2 directly is nice, but I'm still going to buy the next AppleTV device for the interface, ease of use, and overall ecosystem, and I suspect there's a sufficient number of people like me to where its not an EITHER OR scenario.
you can make an argument for that for older TV's, but the new Samsung I just bought I rarely use the Apple TV anymore. it took an hour or so to set up all my apps for easy access and I just press one button and choose an app I want to stream. the remote doesn't even have numbers, doesn't have a source button to select HDMI ports and other sources, etc.I also suspect that for many, myself included, we're willing to pay a premium for an additional box that's independent of the TV and its OS/upgrade cycle and that has that familiar Apple "feel" to it.
