AirPlay from Safari stops with device autolock

Playback of videos from Safari using AirPlay stops when the device auto locks. Has anyone else noticed this idiotic behavior? Any method other than setting auto lock to "never"?

Happened since 8.x for me. And that's what I did, set it to never on the rare occasion I AirPlay something.
Since I moved most of my stuff into plex I rarely need to AirPlay unless it is a YouTube video or something.
