Airplay mirroring and discrete GPUs

    I know airplay mirroring requires a CPU with quick sync (sandy bridge or newer) but how exactly does that work with discrete video? My mid-2011 mac mini has the AMD Radeon GPU and I assume it will work with airplay mirroring, but if this is all done in hardware, how is it able to pass the output of the separate GPU back to the CPU?
