Airplay Mirroring without WiFi Network

Works fine from iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 but when trying with my 2013 MBA running 10.10 I get cannot connect to Apple TV, anyone else seeing the same?
Bluetooth on and working.

I suspect peer-to-peer will be enabled as part of the Yosemite release.

10.10 is Yosemite.

Interesting, I just got it to work from a 2013 rMBP running Yosemite. If you got it to work from an Phone 6 with iOS 8.1, the same steps are involved for your MBA but are you sure it was actually working in peer-to-peer mode?
