Are only certain things supposed to work with airplay mirroring? I can't get any of my games to show up, get the audio but no video. Had heard that Angry Birds works but it doesn't for me.

Everything works for me..You need 4.4 software on your Apple TV AND MAKE SURE when you start the APP double click home button and keep sliding to the right then you can activate mirroring.

There's a micro-USB plug in the back, just below the HDMI port. Plug it into a computer with the latest version of iTunes. It'll see it and offer you an update, either 4.4 or 4.4.1.

Unfortunately I don't have a micro usb cable. I have signed into itunes thru the Apple TV but doesn't show any update. Don't know why if there is an update my Apple TV doesn't show it available.

Try restarting the Apple TV and if you want to, resetting it. Hopefully one of those two options will get the update to appear.

When did 4.4 come out? I unplugged it but that did nothing, how do you reset?

4.4 came out on October 12th. The option to reset the Apple TV is in the General settings. Forget where exactly. Warning: It will erase your settings and set it up factory fresh.

Doing a restore - see what happens!

Waste of time

Did a complete restore - Software version is still 4.3, still have no video on anything except YouTube which works fine.

Just noticed something

Looking at the instructions for Airplay mirroring in the TUAW forum and it says this;

•Double Click the Home Button
•Swipe twice from left to right in the fast app switching task bar
•Click on the AirPlay icon which looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing up
•Select your Apple TV and turn the toggle switch on for Mirroring

When I swipe twice I get two selections, one is "iphone" and the other is "Apple TV". All I am selecting is which speaker to use. There is no toggle switch for Mirroring. I am wondering if the software on my iphone is up to date.

The problem is the Apple TV firmware needs to be updated in order for AirPlay mirroring to work. The Apple TV must be running 4.4.

I restored my Apple TV which installed the lastest software which again gave me 4.3. How else am I supposed to get 4.4?

Why doesn't my iPhone show a toggle switch for mirroring - Is the TUAW forum correct - should that switch be there?

What is supposed to be "mirrored" Is whatever you see on your iPhone screen supposed to show up on your Apple TV

Download this: http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-2846.20111017.34NPe/AppleTV2,1_4.4.1_9A335a_Restore.ipsw Plug in your Apple TV into iTunes and press Option (Mac) or Shift (Windows) then navigate to the 4.4.1 IPSW and restore your Apple TV.

Your iPhone will show the switch for mirroring when it sees a compatible Apple TV.

AirPlay Mirroring will show everything that you see on your iPhone's screen, on the Apple TV.
