Is anyone else having issues with Airplay?

Does the Apple TV have to be a version 3 now so it can run 8.0?

Yeah I was having trouble with this as well. I checked my ATV 3 and there was an update available so I'm doing that now. Hopefully it fixes the issue. This is the longest I've ever waited for something to update...
Not even updating to iOS 8 on both my iPhone and iPad took this long.

Use control panel by swiping up from bottom of screen. Same place other quick adjustments are. Not Setting. Also to show safari use mirror toggle. Evidently the AirPlay icon no longer shows in the video screen where it used to be.

EDIT: OK this is a little embarrassing, but a simple restart of my iPad and Apple tv solved the issue... Everything works fine now!

I updated my Apple TV to the version 7.0 release that came down today and it seems to be working fine with Airplay. However, I have a Airplay speaker and when I try to use it it doesn't work and I have to try it a few times. So it is a bit flaky with my Airplay speaker. this started happening when I installed the iOS 8.0 GM back on Sept 9th. I have a feeling it is a bug that Apple will have to fix in a future release.

No AirPlay on iPhone 5S updated to iOS 8

I updated my iPhone 5S and now it won't use the house WiFi for AirPlay. Partner's non-updated iPhone 5 finds it fine, but mine won't.

Aaaargh !

Tried rebooting the iPhone, no difference.

Any ideas please !!!

Oh how embarrassing - got it working -- the icon didn't appear at the control center thingy but it did when I poked it a bit!

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 5s running iOS 8. Often the first time I try it doesn't play on my Airplay speaker, but after I try a few more times it works. Definitely a bug they need to fix.

I find the way to get it to work is to slide up the control centre sheet thingy, turn WiFi off, wait a second or two, then turn WiFi back on. Then tap on "AirDrop" and make some selection (even if it's only "off"), and with a bit of luck AirPlay will suddenly appear again on the right.

Quite buggy, I agree.

My issue is that I used to be able to wake Apple TV by selecting the airplay icon on my phone but now I have to have Apple TV already on for the icon to show on my phone. By the way I'm using an iphone4 with iOS 7 & Apple TV with the latest software, so maybe I'm in the wrong thread#

Same here. Airplay won't wake it up and I had to fiddle with Airdrop to get Airplay/Mirror to work at all. I guess that means it's a bug in the new Apple TV 7 software.

My Airplay button no longer is present when watching videos.

For example, before when I watched a YouTube video from MxTube, I would start watching the video and hit the Airplay button, and that would wake up the ATV and then it would start playing on my TV. Now, there is no such button, only a subtitle button and a close button.

What the hell? Anyone else?

OK, now I just can't get the AirPlay icon in the swipe-up panel on my iPhone 5S.

No more music in the house :(

So the AirPlay icon still doesn't show up on my iPhone 5S control centre swipe-up thing. All I see is AirDrop.

It will, briefly, if I reboot the phone, but it soon then refuses to show again.

I can't keep rebooting my phone every time I want to play music in the house.

I'm running an ATV3 through my Apple Express with my iPhone 5 and iPad 2. (Yes, I'm fully embedded into the Apple landscape.)

When iOS8 first came out, I was getting a lot of stutter in sound when mirroring my iPad to the ATV. This happened with Amazon Video and games. I updated the ATV to the latest software, and that improved the situation dramatically, but it is still a problem.

Surprisingly, music streamed from my iPhone didn't have the problem!

Streaming sound to a bluetooth speaker is perfect, and of course there's no problem when using the iPad's built-in speaker.

I can only assume that this is connected in some way to the iOS8 wi-fi problem. Hopefully, it'll be fixed in iOS8.2

Reboot your atv3 and your router.

I have the exact same issue as you. I use airplay mirroring a lot to play .mkv videos using VLC media player. Airplay mirroring was the main reason I bought apple TV and its been extremely frustrating to not be able to use this feature anymore. Unfortunately it won't let me downgrade to iOS 7 anymore.

Airplay via itunes/home sharing works fine but its time consuming to convert my videos to .mp4

Has anyone been able to get Airplay back? No option in control center on iPhone and no option on my MBA running Yosemite. Also my 'Remote' app no longer works with ATV. I open the app and it says 'must turn on home sharing' in order for it to work. I have had that option on and never had a problem with the remote app before.

One thing I have noticed is since iOS 8, if the Apple TV is sleeping the AirPlay option won't show up until the Apple TV is woken up
