Do we know if users will be able to use the Lightning-to-HDMI cable to see the videos for those that don't have an AirPlay-enable TV or an Apple TV?
Yes we do. At least one user in one of the previous threads about airplay and fitness+ here on macrumors told me that this second beta also nakes lightning to HDMI casting work, though also without the AW metrics.

Does that work for other video content? (Netflix, YouTube, etc), or more importantly Apple+?
Yes, lightning to HDMI always worked with everything except Fitness+. Now with this beta I’ve been told Fitness+ works too, though with no AW metrics on the tv screen.

Would appreciate an answer to this if anyone knows: but does this new beta also enable one to mirror Apple Fitness+ to a TV through a lightning digital AV adaptor? Sadly I bought my Samsung TV the year before they started supporting airplay and I’m holding back on purchasing an Apple TV as the updated model should be released soon...
I’ve been told by at least one user on another macrumors thread that it does, also without AW metrics.

I really like the fitness service but have found a fault - that I have a shared family plan where fitness can be shared however, Fitness+ requires the children would need to have their own apple watches to get this to load on their iPads? My 12 year old likes the spin class but can't use her own device? any way around this?
The Fitness+ app does have the option to start workouts without an apple watch on iphone or ipad (though apple tv does require a watch). It usually shows up when the fitness+ app can’t find an apple watch to connect to. Just have your daughter download the Fitness app to her iPad from the appstore and have her start a workout. When no watch is found, it should give her the option to start without a watch (and all she’d be missing is the AW metrics on the screen).

Not sure if this will change with 14.5, but right now it only works on iPads with usb-c using the usb-c to HDMI adapter.
I’ve been told this beta makes lightning to HDMI -which previously wasn’t working- now work too.

Can you use this without an Apple Watch yet? My daughter wants to do the Yoga but I can't even get past the start screen without choosing an Apple Watch. Pretty lame.
Is she using an iPhone or iPad? or is she using the Fitness app on an apple tv?. Because on iPhone/iPad the option to workout without a watch has existed from day one, but using the Fitness app on an apple tv does require a watch.

Yeah I'm always using the TV, that makes the most sense for Yoga...

Oh that’s why you couldn’t get past the start screen. Only iphone and ipad offer the option to use fitness+ without a watch, so if you can have your daughter airplay from one of those devices to the Apple TV instead of using the Fitness app on the apple tv itself then she will be able to do the yoga workouts without a watch with no problem. You might also be able to cast the videos to your TV using an HDMI cable if you’re running iOS/iPadOS 14.5 (not out yet, but available in public beta). If you have iOS 14.3 or 14.4, using the HDMI cable won’t work from any devices that have a lightning port (such as older/cheaper ipads and all iphones), but it will work from the newer iPads that came with a USB-C port. I hope this helps you.

Thanks, that's good know at least. Still not thrilled that I can't just turn it on with Apple TV.
