I have a Imac 17 in mid 2011, running Sierra 10.12.8. I just had my internet connection upgraded to a higher speed. A week ago decided to test if my Airplay was still working. tried it and it was. This past week I have been fighting with Plex trying to get it to work of my Google Tv box. Tried a lot of things and couldn't get it to work. Did a bunch of reading and eventually was told to check my Firewall settings. In doing so, I found the all incoming connections from Plex to my Imac were blocked. Unblocked that setting and Plex worked like a charm. Than I decided I would see if I could use Airplay to fling my Pex media through my Imac to my Tv. That is when I found that Airplay was turned of. I attempted to turn it back on, and it doesn't give me that option. I rebooted my modem; rebooted my Imac, rebooted my Apple tv 3 and turned of my Firewall. Still can't turn Airplay on. Tried to play a movie from my Imac using Beamer. When Beamer popped up; it had no indication of Airplay. When Airplay was working, Beamer would give me a choice of one of two Apple Tv 3's that I have. What is my problem? Hoping someone could point me in the right direction to fix this. Don't really care if Airplay doesn't work with Plex, just would like to get it back working for my media that I play through my Imac.
Thanks in advance

Just tried to use Airplay on my Iphone. At first it didn't work; but after I rebooted the Apple Tv box and the modem, it worked. Still nothing on my Imac! Both the Imac and the Apple Tv are hardwired to the modem (Ethernet). My Iphone of course is wireless.

I have two apple tv's; one in the living room and one in the basement. The one in the Living room wasn't working because I hadn't used it since my internet upgrade; therefore it wasn't signed in. Signed it in and it now shows on my Imac. Looked at my Apple tv in the basement. I have it hard wired. Decided to disconnect it and try it on wireless. This I did; and it now also shows on my Imac. Problem solved; why I don't know; but I'm happy. And trying to cast Plex through the Apple Tv's appears that doesn't work. Seems to me, I tried the same thing with Kodi and that didn't work either. Considering buying a Roku for the tv in the Living room. Always something!
